Creating Your Popups

Phoenix Popups use an HTML web page as the popup itself. The HTML web page is just like any other page, except that it only has a small amount of text on it (limited to the size of a popup window).

In essence a Phoenix Popup is a small web page shown over the top of a normal web page, with the bottom page greyed out.

This means that you can design almost any layout for your popup using any HTML editor.  Full instructions are included with the software.

However since the most common use of popups is to show a subscription form, there is a special tool which offers a very quick and easy way to create a subscription form popup.

Below you can see a screenshot of the tool.

You'll see a set of boxes. Just type the text you want to appear into the various boxes (there's full instructions included).

I've included an example popup below so you can see what each box relates to.

You can select the text and color for each item - the close message at the top right, the popup headline, the main popup text (which can optionally be in the form of a set of bullet points), the privacy guarantee and the close window message at the bottom.

After filling in the boxes, you simply paste a signup form from your autoresponder into the software, then click the Create button. Your popup page will be instantly created.

Since the popup is a standard HTML web page, you can then make changes to it if you want using any HTML editor.

The software remembers the information entered into all the boxes, so it's easy to create more popups in future.

Adding Popups To Your Web Pages

As you can see from the screenshot below, the second tool is even simpler. This tool adds a popup to one of your existing web pages:

With this tool, you can choose the the delay (in seconds) between the page being loaded and the popup appearing (anything from zero seconds upwards).

You can also choose how often the popup will appear - every time the page is viewed, once for each browser session, once a day, once a week, once a month or just one time.

Select the web page to be updated and the software will instantly add your popup to the page.

All the code added is Javascript, so you should still be able to safely edit the page using your usual HTML editor if necessary.

Now simply upload the updated web page to your web host and your Phoenix Popup will immediately start working.

Personalizing Your Web Pages

When a visitor enters his or her name into your popup form, the names will be remembered automatically (stored on the visitor's own PCs in something referred to as a "cookie").

You can then display this stored name on any web pages you want.

For example, instead of starting your sales page with the usual "Dear Friend", your sales pages will start with "Dear Jane" (if the person's name is Jane).

Put Subscribe Forms On Your Sales Pages Without Losing Sales!

If you're selling a product, it's common to put a subscribe form on your sales page.

Even if you have a popup, it's still often worthwhile to add a subscribe form, to catch visitors who ignored the original offer in your popup. 

This generally means putting a signup form somewhere in the middle of your sales page.

The problem is that as soon as visitors fill in their details, they are sent off to your "thanks for subscribing" page, leaving your sales page behind.

Unless they press the Back button on their browser, they won't see your sales page again.

You got a subscriber but at the expense of a sale. It's not an ideal trade-off!

Ideally you'd like to let your visitors subscribe and let them carry on reading your sales letter.
